Duchess Meghan Sends a Surprise Gift to Kris Jenner Ahead of Mother’s Day

Reported by Harper's Bazaar.

There are celebrity gift exchanges, and then there are strategic celebrity gift exchanges. Ahead of Mother's Day, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, sent Kris Jenner a pair of scented candles from her lifestyle brand, As Ever — and Jenner made sure the internet knew about it. The momager posted the moment to Instagram Stories, gushing that the candles "smell so delicious" and sharing a glimpse of Meghan's handwritten note: "Happy Mother's Day to the most maternal woman in the world… xx M." Flattery, fragrance, and a brand placement in one neat package.

According to Harper's Bazaar, the candles were inspired by Meghan's two children — Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4 — and this isn't the first time Jenner has landed in the As Ever gifting circle. When the brand launched in April 2025, Jenner was among a select group of recipients who received a full box of artisanal products: herbal teas, crepe mixes, shortbread cookie mixes, and Meghan's now-signature flower sprinkles. Jenner's response then was equally enthusiastic, which tells you everything about how this particular PR loop works.

The Alliance Nobody Saw Coming

The Meghan-Kris dynamic isn't just a gifting strategy — it reflects a genuine social overlap that's been building. Last November, when Jeff Bezos threw a birthday party for Jenner, Harry and Meghan were in the room alongside Oprah Winfrey, Mariah Carey, Adele, and Bill Gates. That's not a coincidence; that's a curated inner circle, and the Sussexes have clearly secured their place in it. For Meghan, aligning with the most powerful matriarch in reality television isn't a step down from royalty — it's a calculated move into a different kind of empire-building.

What's smart about the As Ever gifting strategy is who it targets: women with massive platforms who respond publicly and warmly. Jenner's Instagram Story is worth more than any paid placement, and the personal note elevates it from PR drop to genuine gesture — or at least a very convincing simulation of one. Either way, it works.

Building a lifestyle brand from scratch is hard; building one with the right friends makes it look effortless.
