Duchess Meghan Shares Never-Before-Seen Photos From Her Royal Wedding to Prince Harry

Reported by Harper's Bazaar.

Eight years is a long time to keep a secret — or at least a camera roll. To mark her anniversary with Prince Harry, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, posted two sets of never-before-seen images from their May 19, 2018 wedding, captioning both simply: "Eight years ago today." The restraint was intentional. The images did the talking.

According to Harper's Bazaar, the first gallery — shot by photographer Chris Allerton — pulls from the ceremony at St. George's Chapel in Windsor, where guests included royals, world leaders, athletes, and celebrities. The images are intimate rather than formal: candid toasts, quiet glances, and one particularly affecting frame of Harry mid-speech while Meghan watches him with full, unhurried attention. Then there's Sir Elton John at the piano, which is either the most surreal wedding detail imaginable or exactly the kind of thing that happens when your guest list reads like a cultural institution.

The After-Party Deserves Its Own Moment

The second set shifts to the reception, where Meghan had already made one of the most talked-about outfit changes in recent wedding history — swapping her architectural Givenchy gown for a backless halter dress by Stella McCartney. The party photos capture a first dance, a dance-floor kiss, and the kind of loosened-up joy that only exists after the formal part is over. Whatever the headlines have been since, these pictures show two people genuinely, visibly happy.

The anniversary post lands against a backdrop of significant personal change. The couple stepped back from senior royal duties in 2020, relocated to California, and have since built a life largely outside the institution they left. Their son Prince Archie was born May 6, 2019; their daughter Princess Lilibet followed on June 4, 2021. The Windsor chapter is history — but apparently, the photos from it are still worth sharing.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is post a beautiful memory and let it exist without explanation.
