Kaia Gerber Is So Chic in Her Midriff-Baring Separates

There's a particular kind of dressing that requires zero explanation — no maximalist chaos, no trending micro-detail, just an outfit that reads immediately and completely. Kaia Gerber delivered exactly that at the 2026 Disney Upfront event at New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, where a crowd that included Lindsay Lohan, Paul Anthony Kelly, and Chase Infiniti largely leaned ornate. Gerber went the other direction.

The Palm Royale star wore a black two-piece set from the Jacquemus Fall/Winter 2026 ready-to-wear collection — a bandeau top and midi skirt that, on paper, sounds minimal to the point of boring. It wasn't. According to Harper's Bazaar, the pieces were constructed from alternating panels of matte velvet and high-shine silk, a textural interplay that kept the all-black look from ever feeling flat. This is the kind of craftsmanship that rewards a second look: the silhouette does one thing, the fabric does another, and together they make the outfit.

The Hat Stays Home

On the Jacquemus runway, the set was styled with a wide-brimmed conical hat — a shape that's been circulating relentlessly, from Jenna Ortega to Kim Kardashian and seemingly everyone in between. Gerber edited it out entirely. She wore her hair long and loose in waves, grounded the look with Amina Muaddi peep-toe pumps, and called it done. Skipping the statement hat wasn't a miss — it was a choice, and a confident one. The accessories served the outfit rather than competing with it.

The result was something that felt more Côte d'Azur than corporate New York, which is a genuine feat at a media upfront. While the event was technically a preview of Disney's upcoming film and television slate, Gerber's look functioned as its own kind of preview — for the kind of warm-weather dressing that's worth actually anticipating. Clean separates, considered fabric, nothing extraneous.

When everything around you is loud, the most powerful move is knowing exactly when to be quiet.
