Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu May Already Be the Best-Dressed Star of Cannes

Reported by Harper's Bazaar.

Two days into the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and the question of best-dressed has essentially been settled. Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu stepped onto the red carpet for the premiere of La Vénus électrique and made the rest of the competition feel beside the point.

The French actor — beloved internationally for playing the imperiously stylish Sylvie Grateau on Emily in Paris — arrived in a Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2026 ready-to-wear gown by Anthony Vaccarello. The dress, according to Harper's Bazaar, had recently been worn by Beyoncé, which tells you everything about its cultural moment. The look itself was pure drama: deep violet, with voluminous ruffles framing a plunging neckline, tiered skirt, and a trailing cape in that signature parachute-weight fabric that photographs like a fever dream.

The Jewelry Did the Rest of the Talking

Leroy-Beaulieu has a longtime relationship with Saint Laurent, so the gown felt less like a styling decision and more like a homecoming. But the jewelry is what pushed the look from memorable to genuinely remarkable. As a global ambassador for Pomellato, she had access to the good stuff — and she used it. The centerpiece: a diamond choker set with 21 pear-shaped Paraíba tourmalines arranged in a raindrop formation at the throat. Drop earrings and a sculptural ring completed the set without overcrowding it.

There's a particular skill in wearing a gown this grand without being swallowed by it. Leroy-Beaulieu has spent decades honing a posh sensibility that reads as effortless precisely because it isn't — and that ease is exactly what separates a great red carpet look from a costume. She's not playing dress-up. She just lives here.

Cannes still has weeks to go, but the bar has been set: this is what it looks like when fashion and presence arrive at the same time.
