Rihanna Debuts a Sweet, Scribbly Tattoo Designed by Her Little Kids

Reported by Harper's Bazaar.

There are a thousand ways to mark Mother's Day — brunch, a spa day, a very sincere card — and then there's whatever Rihanna is doing, which is, per usual, operating on a completely different level. The Fenty Beauty founder just got a tattoo designed by her three kids: RZA, 3, Riot, 2, and baby Rocki, a wobbly, gloriously unhinged scribble now permanently etched onto the back of her thigh.

According to Harper's Bazaar, Bang Bang NYC — the celebrity-beloved Manhattan tattoo studio behind roughly 25 of Rihanna's existing inkings — shared video footage of the session on Instagram, captioning it "Family tats @badgalriri Designed by her babies." The original drawing was done in color by the kids; Rihanna went with black ink. A clip, apparently filmed by A$AP Rocky himself, catches her visibly nervous on the tattoo table, which is somehow the most relatable she has ever been.

Cool Parents, Documented

Rocky, for his part, has his own move in the devoted-dad canon: he was recently spotted carrying a bubblegum-pink Chanel bag adorned with baby Rocki's ballerina slippers as bag charms. Their daughter was born last September. These two are clearly committed to making the rest of us look deeply unimaginative when it comes to parenting aesthetics.

What makes the tattoo land is precisely its imperfection — it's not a sleek monogram or a tasteful initial. It's a real child's scribble, the kind that usually ends up magnetted to a refrigerator and forgotten by February. Rihanna made it permanent. On her body. Which is, honestly, the most punk-rock, most tender thing a person with 25 tattoos and a billion-dollar empire could possibly do ahead of Mother's Day.

The bar has been set: your kids' art deserves a frame, but Rihanna's kids' art deserves skin.
